Signs Of A Bladder Infection

Signs Of A Bladder InfectionNatural Treatments for Dog Itching and Cat Bladder Infections

The skin: why your dog is itching

The skin is the largest organ in the body of your pet and reflection of what happens in the body. Regularly brush your pet looking for fleas, lice or ticks. The coat is soft and shiny.

If you see areas of excessive shedding in your pet, you may be dealing with certain skin diseases like scabies, ringworm, hypothyroid disease or allergies, treatments for these are discussed in detail in my book, Veterinary Secrets Revealed.

If your pet has areas of hair missing around the face that are not itchy, then it may have a type of mange called demodex. This small parasite occurs in animals with a suppressed immune system.

A very safe and effective treatment is Vitamin E 400 IU given £ 40 once a day for 3-4 weeks.

If your pet has an excess of dead skin (dandruff), then it may need a supplement of essential fatty acid. Flax is the best source for dogs at a dose of 1 teaspoon per cup of dog food. For cats use the liquid supplement (such as fish oil).

Take note of any palpable lumps or bumps.

Lipomas (benign fatty tumors) commonly occur on the chest wall. If your dog has a soft mass moving his chest, then it is probably a fatty tumor.

sebaceous cysts are another common lump; they can often be distinguished by pressing a background of cheese. They are also very sweet. Bosses increasingly common as the age of your pet and their immune system weakens.

The most important thing to help your pet is to have them on a premium diet and supplementing with additional antioxidants. The ones I suggest using are Vitamin E, Vitamin C and specific flavonoids.

Lumps that are firm, fast growing, not easily moveable should be considered seriously and examined by your veterinarian.

Allergies are one of the most common reasons that I see pets. There are a large number of allergens. The three main classes are Food, Fleas and Environmental. The most common signs are excessive scratching, paw and anal licking, hair loss and excessive dandruff.

If you suspect your pet has allergies, then the first two things that I suggest is to eliminate external parasites as a cause, and feeding a hypoallergenic diet for 4-6 weeks (there are many available ).

Some useful home remedies that I use often are:

In the bath. An oatmeal shampoo with cool water will facilitate the itchiest skin. Leave the shampoo for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. With the most serious allergies, bathe your pet twice a week.

SOOTHE IT topical. Calendula ointment is a herbal medicine which has been used successfully to relieve itching. Apply a thin coat twice daily to affected areas.

THE CONNECTION Supplement. The fatty acid supplements are very useful to decrease the inflammation. The omega-3 are most important. A great inexpensive source is constant flaxseed; I give 1 tsp tea per cup of dog food. Cats are unable to metabolize Flax, so I do recommend the liquid supplement for them. Other sources include fish oil, evening primrose oil and specific veterinary supplements.

Evaluation of genital and urinary system - cat bladder infections ...

In male dogs look at the sheath of the penis to ensure there is no abnormal discharge. This is more common in intact males, if an appeal is easy to have your dog neutered. In female dogs examine the vulva. A common problem is skin infection once.

They can be treated by washing the skin folds twice daily with an antiseptic such Hibitane and apply a soothing cream such as Aloe Vera.

The urinary system is more difficult to eval.
