Pediatric Boards What classes should be taken in high school to help me become a pediatric surgeon?? I know I must have at least four years of medical school, 5 years or more training as a general surgeon, and two years of additional residency training in pediatric surgery, and certification by the American Board of Surgery. Goal I don 't know what I should take classes in high school to help me become a general surgeon and then two more years of residency training in pediatric surgery. Can someone please help me? I would really appreciate it. medical fields are mostly science and math. Math is necessary because most schools in the application yourself taking a specific class of mathematics to go to a specific class of science. Posted on February 24, 2010.
