Pancreatic Transplant How do you get on the list for a pancreas transplant? My husband is 37 years old now and has had type 1 diabetes since he was 19 years. He can not control his glucose very well and his health is deteriorating. We have 3 children and I would love for him to try something that could prolong his life. I heard they had great success with these grafts. I need more info. I was on the list "for over 5 years for both a kidney & A pancrease. You do not want to ask strangers on the Internet something as important as that. Talk with your husband's doctor for heaven's sake. A doctor can tell you what to do about it. your doctor or hospital must be one to put on a donor list. I would check with them first Your husband needs to consult an endocrinologist to determine the best therapy to keep their glucose under control. He already knows the surly basic measures (diet, exercise, medication) if he has a good doctor. And if the doctor knows it is consistent with the treatment plan and still can not control her diabetes, the time has come for the dr. consider a consultation on the donor network. Sometimes just a speech at the R & D network of donors. Good luck. Posted on April 6, 2010.
