Lung Repair After Smoking

Lung Repair After SmokingHow long would it take to repair my lungs smoking after five years?

I started smoking when I was 15 and now I'm almost twenty years. I really want to quit smoking and I know how long will it take to quit to get my lungs back to normal will help in my fight against smoking, Thanks! :)

My husband smoked for eight years, we are just talking last night and he told me he has not smoked in 2 years and last year he finally started noticing that his breathing 's improves.

My mother-in-law smoked for 10 years and stopped about 5 years ago. After, she quit when the doctor every year for an ex-ray to see how she was healing, the cloudiness in his lungs will not start not break until about 2 years after quitting.

I think I depends a lot on the lifestyle of the person and all around health too so it's hard to say! I have had asthma for 8 years now and sound like I smoke a pack of cigarettes every day even though I never smoked anything!

It depends on how much you smoked and for how long. At some point, your lungs will be 100%. I smoked for 10 years. I have not smoked in 6 years ... made more than 15 marathons and ran the Ironman Lake Placid in 2002. Current Xray shows no sign of smoke! Flag

I'm not sure about this, but when I saw this question, I just had to respond.

Wanted to say congratulations on your decision:) Really mature of you. So never give up, believe me, you can leave. Many people have done, and if you can;)

I think it is five years ... but I'm not sure, and I'm curious to know the answer myself, I smoked for six years and then stopped for three years and are now back smoked during the past year.

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but a good chance your lungs will never be 100% again, but if you stop now, you'll probably avoid most smoking-related diseases. Good luck quitting.

They will not return completely to normal, but they become progressively more for several years.

ever. They heal quickly, but it will never be completely healthy again. but it can be much better. Cudos you to quit smoking is difficult.

There will be irreparable damage .... longer you wait to quit smoking, more damage will be.

for how long you never smoked is how long, unless your old like over 50 or more or never so nere
