Using laser treatment to quit smoking is based on the practice behind acupuncture. Using laser treatment to quit smoking is to use lasers to stimulate acupuncture or acupressure points. Active acupuncture and related therapies were compared with sham acupuncture or related processing (using needles or lasers to other places in the body has not been considered necessary) or control conditions.

The review found no consistent evidence that acupuncture activates or related techniques such as laser therapy to quit smoking increased the number of people who could successfully stop smoking.

However, acupuncture may be better than nothing, at least in the short term, and there is not enough evidence to reject the possibility that acupuncture may have an effect superior to placebo.

It is tempting to think that the placebo effect has agreed could be improved by using acupuncture or laser therapy to quit smoking. However, the placebo effect even stronger can be found with many other interventions to help them quit smoking.

It is fair to say that a sufficient number of scientific studies on the effectiveness of laser therapy for smoking cessation had no place to take a final decision one way or another. However, there are many other interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which have proven to drastically increase a smoker's chance of success.
