Medicine for the Masses

Many people forget about public health and Until There's the appearance, since the growth of H1N1 (avian or swine). Public health is an area of medicine that operates in areas other than infectious diseases, and long before the epidemic develops.

From public health, in fact, includes the "protection and improvement" of the overall health of the masses. Historically, public health has focused on communicable diseases, hygiene and epidemic prevention. The discipline has developed over the years to include the prevention of chronic diseases, health education and community programs, and effective promotion of health.

Disease

Public health officials must keep abreast of all new and recurring appearances. This includes not only diseases but also hereditary and lifestyle diseases, like many cancers and heart disease. Much of their time is spent in supervising the search for cures, treatments and improve the diagnostic process and equipment. Prevention and eradication are the ultimate goals, but the road is a long and winding.

The tools that public health officials use to track epidemics and the evolution of the new disease are also very important. Tools like the systems of the World Health geographic information to help accomplish this.

Communal Health

At Community level, the local health department has the same goal. They follow the disease, but also things like test kits, prophylaxis and education on nutrition, reproduction and development. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) monitors the health of all Americans, regardless of income status. They continue to redefine public health through their programs.

The program ensures that pregnant women, nursing mothers and their children aged under five receive adequate nutrition for development. The program would not be possible without the organization of HHS and administration. It must also have access to the Department of Agriculture at the U.S. food supply.

Public-Private Partnerships

The pooling of resources of government is not the only way that public health operates. The public and private entities have cooperated for a long period on public health issues. This statement seems contrary to recent news about the battle of public and private health insurance and a national health plan. However, in the field of public health research, the partnership between public and private entities has flourished.

These two sectors have realized the need to provide affordable medicines to the general public, for example. Consequently, private companies such as Eli Lilly contributed to the government research and vice versa. Such collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention led to a training program in the field of infectious diseases.

The education of the masses

This brings us to another area of public health education and training. Many public health experts have recognized the need to educate the public to better the welfare of the entire population. This goes beyond training the next president of CDC. This
