Harriet Lane

Harriet LaneWhat is the best PDA to have a pediatrician for office and daily use of the hospital?

We have electronic medical records in practice, but I want something to carry my Redbook, Harriet Lane, etc.

I rather recommend to get a PDA for a UMPC or Ultra Mobile PC, these devices are fully funtioning personal computers that are the size of a paper book behind. UMPC with you would be able to run an operating system like Windows XP and use it the same way that you use a laptop or desktop PC while remaining very portable, I think it would be the best solution because it will provide all the functionality.

It is probably better to re-ask this question at the Consumer Electronics section.

Anyway, you can see the BlackBerry or a Palm Treo 700p.

check the store's future, they recommend a brand

The best PDA for medical use would be the type supported by the technical staff of the hospital if necessary. there may be some brands of the hospital you work that can be supported. Also, you may be able to have hospital flip the bill for the device, assuming that you can apply through your office. if they do not support a Treo or a Blackberry, you can ensure you get the technicians so they can recommend remedial and support it needed. Certainly if the hospital has a support staff and ask them to see the PDA in particular you intend to use. (I work in health and support of these devices per day).
