Does anyone know anything about Parkinson's disease? My 39 year old brother in law has just been diagnosed with the disease with early onset Parkinson's.
Does anyone know anything?
I know this is not about parenting, but there are a greater number of people in this section so I thought I could get a better response.
Yes. I worked in a unit of long-term care and we had a lady with Parkinson's. She had constant turmoil and could not swallow his saliva. We have given food that has been pureed, and thickened liquids, but it still could not swallow. It was very special in a wheelchair who claimed his body and had several belts to attach sound and even reclined. She could not use the toilet or talk. She was very advanced. I am sorry that this happened to your family. Hopefully the doctors have some type of drugs that can relieve symptoms. I almost didn't 'answer that I did not want to upset you. But I know a little about it and thought I would share. It was 9 years ago, so there may be more advanced in the medical field today in this field. I hope it was authorized I replied, even if I had such a negative response
I just know that it affects the central nervous system. It affects motor skills and speech as well as other things.

Unfortunately, yes, I do. Parkinson's is a nasty disease that leads to uncontrollable muscle spasms. It is a motor system disorder, and it can make it very difficult or impossible to move. Parkinson's is not fatal, but as it develops its complications (pneumonia or a bad fall) can result in death.
my great-uncle ... mainly the nervous system stops ... you shake very bad and sometimes he sleeps on so severely that people can not stand or walk. Fortunately, the disease was caught early and there is so much you can do to prevent it from getting worse! My uncle's illness is well controlled with medication and he still farms at 74 with Parkinson's. I suggest you look to webmd.com. they have more information for you, and some treatment plans and probably. Good luck!
