Obesity causes? The social stigma? Obesity: the social prejudices and the medical community contempt
It's a wicked world the people there. Everywhere you turn there are people who choose to be heinous act and speak for just about any reason you can think of. It is obvious and not so subtle racism, class prejudice, ageism and political polarization, to name a few.
This does not mean that there are no exceptions to every rule, but many people have adopted political correctness to such a degree that humans have found many more subtle ways of showing their hatred.
Some of these behaviors have gone underground to emerge in our institutions, businesses and social strata. Of course, it has always been there, but it now appears that its effects are more visible and very, effectively dehumanizing to those of the receiving end of many prejudices and bigotry being expressed about those of us who are not a size 5.
Obesity, heavy, overweight people are really catching hell. People think when they see someone overweight or obese they must be lazy, unproductive, lacking the will to take better care of themselves. I'm sure a small percentage of people in the United States fit this bill, however, you may be surprised that most of them do not.
There are many reasons for obesity. The key though is that people who are obese or become obese have a body that literally, no longer work the way they are supposed to.
Here are some of the medical and nonmedical become obese:
Processed foods: everything white flour, sugar, coffee, alcohol and high in sodium (which generally all processed foods) is the enemy of the human body. He does not know what to do with it, but few nutrients glean what he can, store the majority and the rest empty.
Hypothyroidism: Since the thyroid controls the basic functioning of the human metabolism, if it is too low, it can not convert the calories in many foods into a usable source and the inability to cause weight gain despite a healthy lifestyle food. When the thyroid goes wacko on the low end, you get fat. If she goes wacko on the high end, you can lose weight exponentially and have many medical problems as an obese person.
Cushing's Disease and Syndrome (Cushing's disease has always been considered a problem dog or horse, hmmm go figure): This disease is "allegedly" prevalent in only 10% of every million people if you want to believe this the CDC, FDA and the AMA to report trouble. Cushing occurs because the body produces too much cortisol. Cortisol Control regulation of blood pressure and immune system and keeps insulin levels in the body stable. In Cushing's disease, it is assumed that only one tumor in the pituitary is responsible for the production of excess cortisol. However, some other doctors disagreed, and found that Cushing's syndrome may also be caused by reliance on food and products with steroids such as prednisone, especially if they have been taken for long periods of time .
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: is a hormonal disorder among women. Most women do not know to ask their doctors have tested for this disease because the medical community considers that it is rare. I dare say it may be the norm today, with the amount of hormones to come with food for many years.
Oral contraceptives: progestins and other steroid-based drugs for cancer often throw the thyroid balance and hurt the hypothalamus, which usually results in weight gain.
Antipsychotics and antidepressants: Taking a little time, depending on the health of the thyroid or hypothalamus, will cause weight gain or weight loss. The majority is weight gain especially in those taking these drugs for many years. I'm doing research now how many people take these drugs.
