Contagious Rashes List rash contagious? I was looking for a "list" of * * contagious rash and cannot seem to find one ... can someone help? Poison ivy is not considered contagious because you do not get it from another person. Do you mean in terms contagious disease that you catch the real rash, or a disease that causes a rash? For example, many viral infections are contagious and can cause rashes. You can touch the eruption itself all you want on you will not be one thing, but of course if they sneeze on you, you could. Scabies does not cause a rash, self-itch leave traces on the skin. Chickenpox is an example of a disease spread by the eruption, and you can also catch chickenpox from someone with an outbreak of shingles. Other diseases that cause rashes are: fifth disease, roseola, scarlet fever and impetigo. Less common could include smallpox and syphilis, bubonic plague and meningococcal meningitis. In the case of menigitis, the disease is spread by droplets when a person sneezes, the rash is not himself. There is also the Rocky Mountain spotted fever, again, the rash is not contagious, but if the disease is of course spread through insect bites. The list of viral outbreaks is simply too long to really get into. So I gave you the most common. Keep in mind most rashes are caused by irritation of the skin, not the disease. Even when there is a rash caused by illness, the rash itself is usually not contagious. Posted on March 3, 2010.
