Bipolar Disorder In TeensFour types of bipolar disorder explained - how they affect individuals

In psychiatry and bipolar manic-depressive syndrome is a group of mood disorders where a person is experiencing emotional states where they go from being clinically depressed to states where their mood is elevated, or round face, and may be or include these two moods. This can be a debilitating disease if left untreated or ignored, and has been known to cause suicide.

During the late 1950s was when the manic-depressive term "first born, but it is now commonly referred to as bipolar disorder, which is named for him now. This mood disorder has been in long before its discovery. Word as "Anya" and "Manos" coming from Latin, used by the Romans. A Roman physician named Caelius Aurelianus came with the etymology (history of words). The meaning of "Anya is a creation of great mental suffering, while" Manos "the scale can be translated across as calmer and more relaxed. Through the centuries those who are known for great minds have tried to work on how these strange mood swings emerged. Gao Lian, a Chinese encyclopedia was one of the first to mention the disease in his "Eight treaties Education to Life, the French Jules Baillarger found that the origin of frequent cycles of depression and mania may be explained by two phases of mental disorders.

The concept behind what we now know as bipolar disorder has been considered a German psychiatrist - Emil Kraeplin. Long before mood stabilizers were created, he looked untreated patients and studied their records and was able to classify those who were suffering from this disease. He has designed and is known as the father behind the term "Manic Depressive Psychosis." Observations from Emil patients were found to undergo cycles where they had a time of acute depression and mania, with intermissions inbetween where patient had no symptoms and acted normally.

Although Kraeplin discovered the concept behind the disease, Dr. John Cade who was credited with coming up with the treatment. He discovered that lithium carbonate is effective as a mood stabilizer, designed to treat all types of mental illness. As a pioneer for this drug, it was the first of its kind to be used to treat all psychiatric conditions, which are often treated with therapy or electroconsulive lobotomy.

Bipolar syndrome can be considered as having mood swings, but at a much more frightening. These abnormal mood swings will make life very difficult for a person or it may increase depending on the severity of the disease (on a scale from mild to severe) and what road it is necessary (or a depressive mood exalted). It can change a person active and energy levels, cognitive behavior, affect their social life and disrupt their normal sleep cycle.

If a person is in their early teens, they are just the beginning of the depression that comes and goes. As they reach their late teens, bipolar disorder appears on the surface. In some cases, a person with the disease began as a young child, and others later in life. Bipolar can strike anyone at any age, regardless of their ethnic origin, gender, race or social class.

Women diagnosed with the disease usually began with first episodes of depression, whereas male patients are known to have begun with manic episodes. The disorder is known to be genetic, so if you are blood related to someone with this disease there is a tendency to spread.

These changes or episodes of mood swings can last several hours, even months, everyone is affected differently and have different coping mechanisms. If a patient presents four or more episodes of depression or mood swings and a combination.
