Is it possible to get disability for bipolar with no history of working for thirteen years? Being bipolar is hard enough and now make me loopy drugs can I apply for and get disability?
You may have to be turned down and then reapply / appeal.
First, you must have worked enough shifts (FICA) to qualify for SSD, or you must apply for SSI and to prove how much you paid to live these past 13 years.
You must have proof that your daily functioning is soooo doubtful that you can not do work at all.
The MD therapist / s need to write very strong letters that print on them in detail that you can not ADL (activities of daily living): IE: bathing, cooking, travel, home cleaning; socially isolated, social withdrawal, impaired reasoning, discernment, concentration, attention, reality;
The mood changes (depression and mania) and behaviors or disabilities related to changes in your mood.
Side effects of medications and how they affect you negatively on employment.
How the disease, it is difficult to understand or remember instructions, do not be reliable to be on time, difficulties in meeting deadlines, personality affects your relationships with bosses and colleagues (and how).
What you did last 13 years and how they were affected by your illness.
If you have had difficulties on the job or have lost jobs in the past, etc.
Get a lawyer. There are agencies that offer free services.
Good luck
You can try and if they do not give you the first time take trying.Be and have a copy of all your medications, doctor visits and anything else about your condition, copies of each report.You dr will give them one and you keep one for your records.
