Artificial Knee Cartilage replacement knee cartilage - an alternative to knee replacement? My father needed a knee replacement, but we have heard so there is an alternative ..... Inster a procedure that produces a type of epoxy between the knee to create an artificial cartilage. We go to the doctor in a few days to discuss this, and we are not familiar with the name of the procedure and the procedure itself. If this is indeed a new procedure, a search on Google and see what you can find on this subject. See if you can get unsolocited testimonies of those who had the procedure. See if it's worth it. The doctor may be trying to push the process just because it's new. Get another doctor came. A knee replacement surgery is serious and must be hard to recover and make the necessary rehabilitation exercises to make it work. If the artificial cartilage is a viable alternative, go for it before going through the replacement procedure. Make sure there are no serious side effects of the replacement procedure Cartlidge. There are some products that act as a form of artificial cartilage that can be injected directly into the knee. The most common brand is called Synvisc. You can Google if you want to read their promotional materials. I do not know anything, but I get the Synvisc shots about every five months. Works quite well for me. It is 3 shots in the knee joint a week for three weeks. My health ins. Here in Colorado it covers. They come out with a Synvisc ........ Just a shot instead of 3. do not know how well it works.
