Acl Knee Injury

Acl Knee InjuryPost ACL injury knee problems?

I tore my left ACL (nothing else) to play intramural basketball in March '05. I had reconstructed using an allograft (cadaver tissue) in May '05. I never found a complete stability in my knee, and for sport, I think my knee will slide as before surgery. I currently have a large knee brace that helps to moderate. Any suggestions on what I can do for stability?

My second question is that I have a lot of popping and crackling in the same knee - much more than pre-injury/surgery. Has anyone encountered this as well?

My last question is it with this type of knee injury to find that they develop arthritis in the knee hurt? I had some (possible) early signs of arthritis, and I wanted to know if this is common or just plain dumb luck.

Thank you!

If you continue to have instability in the knee, you should consider two options - 1) The allograft is not working properly (it is loose / torn) and 2) Your muscles around the knee are not strong and have lost " motor control "

Maybe you've become dependent on the brace and therefore the muscles are not strengthened. Did you continue your exercise program since you stopped the therapy? If not, I suggest you start again, and that includes resisting weightlifting. You can also consider the need to return to physical therapy, including because of your second complaint knee popping and crackling. Again, this may be early signs of arthritis or it may be "patellofemoral pain" - again, because of muscle weakness may be due to soft tissue restrictions.

If you are worried that the allograft has failed or if you want to know more about arthritis your questions, I recommend you call or visit your doctor.

u need to see the orthopedic.
mayb try a tendon graft frm your own.
I fell from my ACL reconstruction (tendon graft), i dislocated knee that easily), but now the fine

Your allograft
not / was not properly stretched / suffered a "slippage" (elastic degeneration) / srengthening hamstrings enough.

POP means that your meniscus is torn, too. interrupted during the first or fluoroscopy fresh tear.

Why do a repair, then use a brace???

you need a reassesssment,
you need an endoscopy costs
you need to strengthen hamstrings

You must return to your surgeon and have it checked. I just had my ACL replaced six weeks ago (with my hamstrings) so I can not help with issues long-term stability. I read an article that connects the ACL replacement with arthritis, which is very good news for both of us, eh?

Ice rice resting C Elevate. Be careful when playing sports. I hurt my knee and I really do not do anything and if I do, I wrap my knee and put icey hot. but in your case, you must return to your doctor and tell him about it. but keep the brace on. I am still breaking and cracking in my knee and IM gunna be going to the doctor about this. get tested for it.
